Liberal Hawks Try to Kill Easter Bunny

Tiny rabbit on Queen's Park lawn being hunted by red tail hawks.

This is the scene around noon on the Queen's Park front lawn...

A little rabbit, escaped from who-knows-where, is carelessly hopping and munching on the green spring lawn at Queen's Park. Watching carefully the small animal? Some of the kids visiting the legislature, finding quite adorable the fact that so close to the long holiday week-end, they get to see the Easter Bunny.

Meanwhile, perched on a tree, a couple of red tail hawks. The predatory birds nest on the legislative building and are the "Birds of prey in résidence" here. Like the kids, they are amazed at their good luck, but they are not thinking about candies and chocolate...

Also on the front lawn, the cafeteria staff, including the cooks, all dressed in white.
What are they doing? Chasing the rabbit of course. Trying to catch it before the birds of prey do. Although for a minute or two, it is not quite clear if:

a) They want to protect the bunny from a certain death;
b) Rabbit soup is on the menu on Friday.

(especially since the government was unveilling on the same day its "Buy Ontario" policy about offering locally grown and raise food in government institution).

Turns out they have good intentions. But the rabbit is not cooperating. It is running behind the tree, under the bushes, under the cars, trying to avoid the cooks and the hawks. The birds are
swooshing and swooping closer and closer, but the furry long-eared animal narrowly escapes.

Finally around 3h, a professional shows up. Looks like an animal service. In less then 15 minutes, the rabbit is captured in a net, put in a cardboard box, and carried away to better pastures.

No rabbit soup for lunch, no rabbit BBQ for the hawks and no Easter eggs for the kids.

I bet conservative leader John Tory wished he had that much help fighting the Liberal hawks.
Oh sure, some cooks also came out and helped him too. But the knives they were carrying ended up in his back...
